Knowledge is power. If you’re a small business do you have a firm handle on your energy costs or have you just let things stagnate for ages because you’re too busy? The price of power is going up again. So it’s time to get a grip, shake your power suppliers by the scruff of their necks and get the best possible deal.
Remember as a consumer you’re in a position of power. Your existing supplier wants to keep you. You’re a valuable source of revenue and it costs more to get new customers than it does to maintain existing ones.
Here’s some things to find out first. Fully armed with the facts, you can take your supplier to task, switch to their best deal or move to another supplier altogether. Either way you’ll avoid paying more than necessary for energy and cut your small business outgoings.
-
the name and contact details of your current supplier, including your account number
-
the amount you pay for each unit of energy
-

-

-

-
your current meter readings
If you’re in rented premises ask your landlord, facilities manager or buildings manager to explain their utilities cost reduction strategy to you. If there isn’t one, it’s your opportunity to put something sensible in place! For example a simple six month review.
