Perhaps you’ve spent good money on a posh dining set using our homewares discount codes. Maybe you’ve been left some expensive antique pieces by a relative. You might collect crockery with a unique pattern from the ’50s or ’60s. But what happens if you chip or break your precious china?
Chips are irritating but they can be fixed if you’re reasonably confident with handicrafts or DIY. Ever hear of ‘Milliput’? It’s a brilliant product designed to repair chips, which can even be used to fix nasty breaks. It’s incredibly strong and resilient, takes temperatures up to 150 degrees centigrade and can be sanded to an invisible finish. Best of all, it only costs about a fiver.
If you’ve broken a piece of your favourite tableware beyond repair or you’d rather just replace a chipped piece completely, try your local boot fairs, charity shops and antique shops.
Online, ebay is a great place to start. You might pick up a replacement for pounds or even pennies, depending on what you’re trying to repace… obviously Sevres porcelain costs a lot more than blue and white Cornish ware! Alternatively visit www.lostpottery.co.uk, a specialist site dedicated to new and second hand replacements for good quality china manufactured by firms like Doulton, Wedgewood and Dresden… from a tenner or so upwards.
