Apparently we waste an astronomical amount of food each year in the West. It’s shameful when you think about it. It takes a vast amount of energy, effort, time and resources to grow and produce food. People all over the planet are starving. As we write, Pakistan’s crops have been destroyed by floods and Niger is suffering a critical food crisis. And – let’s be frank - far too many of us in the UK are fat! Millions of us could do with dropping  a few pounds.
