Australia day

By Jennifer Endean on January 26th, 2010 at 12:12pm in Discounts & Tips

Today, 26th January is an official public holiday in Australia, called “Australia Day”, so if you wondered why all the Aussie’s are super cheerful today then now you know.

A brief history on Australia Day is that over 200 years ago, Captain James Cook sailed HMS Endeavour from England and anchored up near Sydney Harbor in Botony Bay.

This invasion by the British stopped the original aborigine culture and colony Australia.

To celebrate the massive achievements by our Aussies to not becoming a permanent penal colony why not buy the 2008 film Australia

Starring Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, David Wenham, and Bryan Brown for only £4.99 at Amazon which is a massive saving of £18.01.
