I’m Kate Naylor. I live just outside Brighton, high up on the South Downs, with my fiancé Tony and our three cats, and I work as a freelance writer.
I’m dedicated to saving money, spending less, buying wisely, cutting waste, re-using, recycling, re-purposing and generating cash from the stuff I no longer want.
I’m not tight. I’m no scrooge. I enjoy the good things in life as much as anyone else.
But I’m aware that our gorgeous blue planet has limited resources. That future generations deserve to live as well as my generation. That the money we earn needs to safely cover our living expenses. That it’s too easy to throw useful things away without a second thought. That waste is very rarely rubbish. That living a good life doesn’t need to cost a fortune. And that saving money delivers genuine thrills once you get going!
Are you struggling to make ends meet?
If you’re struggling to make ends meet, our blog provides inspiration about figuring out what you really need in life, and what you can do without. I cover how to spend less on the things you genuinely need and how to get the best value from your hard-earned cash.
I delve into the extreme side of saving money, exploring how to save a trickle of pennies and ultimately turn them into an avalanche of pounds. I take a detailed look at get rich quick schemes and online business opportunities. And I lend the whole thing a creative edge, showing you how to make beautiful and useful objects for your family, friends, community, home and garden for next to nothing.
I react to breaking news, providing common sense advice about sticky money issues. And I take a look at the emotional, social and cultural reasons why so many of us spend too much, do far too much impulse buying, waste too many resources and, as a result, often get into horrid financial difficulties.
Why not send us your money saving ideas?
Together we can create a cleaner, greener world with less waste, more resources and fewer money worries for everyone. It’s great to hear about our readers’ moneysaving ideas, so feel free to comment on posts or get in touch.
Looking for a great copwriter?
If you love reading our money saving blog posts and are looking for help on your next project, no matter how big or small, I’m available for hire as a freelance copywriter.
Hi there, I’m Jenny, a brand new mum living in the heart of Essex with a passion for making the pounds look after themselves!
Ever since I can remember I’ve watched my finances, even when I didn’t actually have finances! You know, that moment you were handed 50p pocket money and you felt like you could buy the world, well even then I worked with a clear goal of making my 50p go further, last longer. And that’s true to this day. OK, so the amounts may have increased a little but my basic thrifty principles still apply, keeping me on the financial straight and narrow!
New mum, new temptation!
Just recently I became a mum for the very first time which has completely exposed me to a whole new world of potential cash flow catastrophes, you know the purchases that can land you in unhealthy debt all because you had to have that matching cot, wardrobe and chest of drawers for a person no bigger than your bulging belly! Well, I’ve officially beaten the impulse baby buys, I’ve battled through the ever so tempting trips to Mothercare and come out smiling. So I’m here to pass on all that I’ve learnt about baby saving, but don’t worry, I won’t be going too over the top with the baby posts, I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea!
The only way is saving!
Even though I’m Essex born and breed I’ve developed a bit of a grudge toward the Essex stereotype because we’re really not all like that bunch off TOWIE, the sort that would spend half their salary on fake tan and the rest on the latest red bottoms & a mulberry handbag!
I’ll delve into some of the ways that I save money in a style concious world and look at how I successfully run my family home on a budget. I’ll also be sure to keep you guys posted on the latest happenings from the money saving community online, highlighting some great blogs along the way to help you save even more!
